Paints and Their Different Purposes
Various paint available in the market have specific reasons why they are manufactured. Paints for a protective coat on the surfaces where they have been applied after drying. Paints protect the surfaces they are applied onto and also make them look beautiful and attracting. There are many purposes on which paints can be implemented. One can use different methods in application of paints to the surface. Most of the pants are made up of three components to make sure that they are applicable. One of the ingredients is the pigment whose work is to provide color. A binder and the liquid go hand in hand to make sure that the paint is applicable and uniform.
Color dye makes the paint have its original color. Colour pigments absorb the ultraviolet radiation from the sun hence protecting the paints. White wash is the commonly used type of paint that has no color pigment and used on both rough and smooth surfaces. Due to the lack of a binder in the whitewash paint it is therefore not useful in protecting the surfaces of the material. Binder is a film former or the resin generally in solid form. Binder is a very important component of the paint as it assists in the formation of a protective layer on the surface where the coat is applied. The solid particles of the binder are broken in the process of paint manufacturing and remains suspended in the liquid.
One should be able to tell between a good paint and other paints. Good paint is supposed to stick firmly to the surface where they are applied. Good color is attractive from very far as people view the work. The coat applied should be long-lasting and able to withstand the harshness of the environment. Paints are formulated for different uses. We have various types of paints that one can use for different purposes during painting.
Primers and sealers are colors normally used on new and exposed woodwork. Primers and sealers can be applied on metals too. Apply primers and the sealers on surfaces that require good protection from chemicals and other harm causing agents. Places with old paints can be painted using this kind of paints. Where primers and sealers are used the surfaces not easily affected by chemicals.
Some paints are applied on the surface prior to some other paints. Sealers are applied and then an undercoat applied on the surfaces. They are also used where one desire in changing the color of the surface permanently. Undercoats are colors which are lighter in color used in covering a dark surface. Some colors are very bright and sticky and hence applied as the top layer. These are the paints that make the surfaces beautiful. Beautiful colors and durable coats should be chosen for topcoats.
